MK (Yisrael Beitenu) Avigdor Lieberman has requested permission to visit the IDF soldier imprisoned for shooting dead a wounded terrorist in Hebron last week.
Lieberman explains he wants to hear what occurred from the soldier as well as to explain to him that he enjoys a great deal of support among Israel. Lieberman decried the decision not to permit him to visit with the soldier, explaining “The Arab MKs who support terrorists are permitted to meet with imprisoned terrorists. There is no doubt the refusal stems from political considerations”.
Lieberman feels the soldier “was court-martialed before he had a trial and before the investigation was completed. Even the Prime Minister accused him of acting contrary to the values of the IDF”.
Lieberman stated the Prime Minister and Defense Minister had no right to speak out against the soldier as they did before the investigation probing his actions was completed and their statements and statements from others all but guarantee the soldier will not be able to receive a fair trial.
