Police are investigating to determine who slashed the tires of the vehicles belonging to MK (Kulanu) Rachel Azariya and her husband. Two tires were slashed on each of the vehicles.
Azariya filed a police complaint. She told the media that the place where the vehicles were parked signal the act was not random, but directed at her to “send a message”. She declined to elaborate.
MK Azariya is an activist pushing a liberal Orthodox agenda in Knesset and she is an outspoken voice opposing the current version of MK Gafne’s bill pertaining to state-run mikvaos. She [and others who back this view] feel a woman wishing to toivel in a Rabbanut mikve without a balanit present should be entitled to do so. This regulation was set into place in the previous administration by then Minister of Religious Services Rabbi Eli Ben-Dahan. She explains the current wording of Gafne’s bill places this in jeopardy and therefore, she and her colleagues in Kulanu will not back the bill unless the working is amended.
