Councilman Chaim Deutsch (D-BROOKLYN) is proud to offer free legal services at his District Office twice a week, all year round. Each year, Councilman Deutsch has this program available in conjunction with the CUNY School of Law’s Community Legal Resource Network. This free service provides for an experienced lawyer who sees constituents for one hour consultations.
The lawyer is experienced in a large variety of legal matters, including landlord-tenant issues, elder planning, will drafting, real estate and foreclosure proceedings, immigration, health care proxies, living wills, and evictions and more. Councilman Deutsch offers this service to constituents of any income level, as it can often be difficult to find a capable lawyer at an affordable rate.
“Free legal is an extremely utilized service that I provide in my district office,” said Councilman Chaim Deutsch. “A consultation with a knowledgeable attorney can be a huge help to anyone facing a legal question or problem. I am proud to offer this assistance to my constituents, and I urge anyone in need of legal help to call my office at 718-368-9176 to schedule an appointment.”
“Councilmember Deutsch has been a substantial and committed partner with the Community Legal Resource Network at CUNY School of Law’s work to increase access to lawyers for unrepresented New Yorkers. Through his funding, our compassionate and knowledgeable lawyers have met one-on-one with hundreds of constituents on a regular basis at the Councilman’s District Office and at Shorefront Community Center. They assist otherwise unrepresented constituents with critical legal issues, including housing, benefits, healthcare, foreclosure, and estates. We could not provide this vital legal access without Councilman Deutsch’s support, and we continue to be grateful for the partnership,” said Lisa Reiner, Associate Director of CLRN.
“I have used Councilman Deutsch’s free legal service a few times over the years,” said Richie Terrio, a constituent in the 48th Council District. “The lawyer always took the time to explain everything to me and saw me for follow-up consultations whenever I needed. I am so grateful to Councilman Deutsch for truly caring about his constituents and making sure that we have the services that we need.”
