Every Friday Night we recite the prayer; וזכנו לקבל שבתות… Privilege us to welcome Shabbos amid abundant gladness, amid wealth and honor and amid minimal sin. Remove from me, my household, and the entire nation of Israel, every form of illness, every type of pain, and every manner of need, poverty and destitution. Unfortunately, there are many fellow Jews who are not privileged to recite this prayer within the comfort of their own home, but rather are suffering, and spending Shabbos in a less than optimal setting, in the confines of a hospital. They need your help!

For over 35 years it has been our mission to provide comfort to families in times of crisis. We offer Shabbos accommodations, in several area hospitals. The Shabbos rooms are stocked with fresh food cooked in the Bikur Cholim Kitchen, challah, cake, hot cholent, and kugel. Freshly made beds, and other amenities. All of this is prepared with one goal, to help alleviate a stressful situation, allowing the family to focus their full attention on their loved one. Help us HELP them!

I am sure you have experienced a Shabbos away from home, you know the overwhelming amount of preparation involved, and the nagging feeling that you forgot something. How many times did you run back to retrieve yet another important item? The dedicated Bikur Cholim Volunteers do this every single week making sure that nothing is left behind, and that all is prepared in the most eloquent way possible. Please join us in hosting our esteemed guest! These accommodations are not limited just for Shabbos. Bikur Cholim has 14 Pantries in 11 hospitals throughout Rockland, Westchester, and North Jersey, ready for the moment when you need that much awaited break to rest, recharge, or pray.All pantries are stocked with coffee, snacks, sandwiches, soup, ice cream, and much more. We also have Tallis & Tefillin, as well as Seforim, and Tasmushei Kedusha.

Let’s not forget the hundreds of meals that are cooked in the Bikur Cholim Kitchen weekly, and are hand delivered by our dedicated volunteers to the patient’s bedside.
