Deri Removes Entry Fees to Many of Israel’s Beaches

deriInterior Minister Aryeh Deri has announced he is eliminating the fee charged to persons visiting many of the nation’s beaches known as the ‘bathing fee’. Deri canceled the fee at ten beaches, which will now be free for all wishing to enjoy the areas.

The Interior Ministry announced on Sunday 3 Adar-II that local governments that collected the fees would be compensated as NIS 7 million is allocated to make up for their loss. Ministry officials announce that for now, the cancelation of the fees is for this summer only as the measure is evaluated.

Deri released a statement that this is part of his battle to lower the cost of living and he feels the free beaches will contribute significantly for many during the coming summer.

  1. Avreimi — the gemara already says, אין אפוטרופוס לעריות, which loosely translated means, we should not have gate-keepers for arayose.

  2. To comment # 5,
Did you check this out in an ArtScroll Edition Talmud?
I believe you will find you are mistaking. (Unless you were joking)

It means that even with gatekeepers (which we should definitely have!) there are still never any guarantees, thanks to a prevalent overactive Yetzer-Ho’ra.

  3. I guess if you all above know about the Pritzus, then many of you have participated. Tel Aviv has a beautiful beach with warm waters, soft sand, and moist breezes. I’ve even used it as a mikvah. I’m talking about the separate men’s Tel Aviv beach which exists.
