Arab attorneys Mudahat and Shirin Issawi were sentenced to eight and four years in prison respectively. They were convicted in a Jerusalem court of compromising state security for sending messages from imprisoned terrorists to Hamas terrorists in the hope of influencing which terrorists would be included in the Gilad Shalit prisoner exchange deal.
Shirin and her brother ran a law office in the eastern capital. They used persons who have Israeli ID cards to enter the prisons and act as couriers for messages to and from Hamas.
