A Yeshiva dormitory was destroyed in a Monday morning fire, but thankfully, all the occupants were safely evacuated.
According to TLS, the fire broke out just before 6:00AM in a a home on East 9th Street near East End Avenue.
By the time the Lakewood Fire Department arrived, the home was completely engulfed in flames.
The blaze was brought under control around 6:30AM, but the home was destroyed.
While the home was still burning, Bachruim and nearby residents were seen dancing to the song of ‘Chasdei Hashem’, thankful that nobody was trapped in the blaze (see video below).
Families from nearby homes came out shortly after the fire to bring clothing for the Bachurim to wear.
The fire reportedly started from a space heater.
One firefighter suffered minor burns, officials said.
The Fire Marshal’s office is investigating.
