Rabbi Yoshiyahu Pinto Decides Not to Continue Chemotherapy Treatments

pintoRabbi Yoshiyahu Pinto Shlita, who is serving a one-year prison term in the Nitzan Prison in Ramle has decided to halt chemotherapy treatments due to his weakened condition.

It is reported the rabbi is transported by the prison service to Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital in Jerusalem. Attorney Avi Chimi, who represents the rabbi explains as a result of the treatments the rabbi has lost eight kilograms (17.5 lbs.) and he is now extremely weak. Chimi explains these treatments are difficult enough for anyone having to go through them but for someone who no longer has his family around him, it is that much more difficult.

Chimi explains due to the rav’s medical condition, the difficulty of the treatments and the difficult conditions to which he is subjected to, he has decided to halt the treatments.

Israel Prison Authority officials state the rabbi receives treatments at times.

  1. Do the Israeli judges of the Supreme Court have no compassion whatsoever? There are many things that seem to show the state of Israel is not a Jewish country with a Yiddish neshoma but treating anyone like this is too disgusting for words.

  2. At first they denied he was sick and claimed he was making it all up. Shows you how they’ll lie just to lock up a frum person.

  3. Sorry, he is getting the opportunity to have excellent medical care. Why are you saying they have no compassion? Rabbi Pinto CHOSE to stop treatments – do you think the prison service should strap him down and forcibly give him chemo? You would be ranting about that as well.

The only thing in this story that makes me furious is that a terrorist on hunger strike is being force fed. Apply the same criteria – stop the treatment, since that is his wish. Let him starve himself to death.
