A bill that would have prevented chareidi parties from running in the next Knesset elections was defeated in a plenum vote in a 42-16 vote.
The bill, authored by MK (Machane Tzioni) Ksenia Svetlova, states that any party that does not have adequate representation of men and women cannot compete in elections for such a list would be viewed as one that does not accept the State of Israel as a democratic society.
Svetlova explains women in Israel compromise 51% of the nation and therefore, any list without women included cannot be accepted.
During the plenum session Svetlova added “In Saudi Arabia, there are 30 positions allocated to women in the Legislative Council. In Iran, women are permitted to run and be elected. It is incredible that we in the 21st century in this legislature we have to explain the importance of women’s participation in the democratic process. What we want is to give a foothold to women in allowing to them to run on the lists”.

They should push a bill that no political party can exist unless it has a proper proportion of religious people in it!

A johnny-come-lately if there ever was one
The law should be that no political party can exist unless it accepts the authority of Torah mi-Sinai and applied by halacha.
It is sad that such a ridiculous bill got to a vote and garnished 16 supporters.
Aharon tuvia: that a good one . I’m in with you. It’s crazy how a Country can have 13 people in the legislative that’s goal is to destroy thier country. Imagine we had 15% Isis people in the senate voting on laws.
