A horrific crash left a 26-year-old Jewish man from Miami Beach R”L dead late Sunday night.
The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating what caused the crash, which happened just before midnight on the Turnpike near Griffin Road.
According to police, it appears the victim was driving a Hyundai Accent and was traveling northbound on the southbound lanes of the highway with its headlights off before it crashed head-on into a tractor trailer. It then rolled over following the impact.
The driver of the car was R”L pronounced dead on the scene.
The driver of the tractor-trailer as well as a woman sleeping in the cab walked away from the crash.
Chesed Shel Emmes of Florida are working to ensure proper Kavod HaNiftar as police continue their investigation.
