HaGaon HaRav Meir Mazuz Shlita, Rosh Yeshivas Kisei Rachamim, during his weekly motzei Shabbos shiur addressed a number of current events matters including the new egalitarian prayer area near the Kosel that is going to be established in the coming weeks.

The rav stated “There must be a protest rally at the Kosel for Kovod Hatorah”. Rav Mazuz also spoke out regarding recent criticism directed against Jerusalem Sephardi Chief Rabbi Shlomo Amar Shlita. He stated critics do not realize who Rav Amar is and therefore permit themselves to speak out foolishly against him, showing their ignorance.

Rav Mazuz spoke out regarding comments Rav Amar made against the Reform Movement and the decision to allocate the egalitarian prayer area. “If they are not Reform, who is? Evil and wicked” he stated, adding Maran HaGaon HaRav Ovadia Yosef ZT”L would not have remained silent in this situation as “they are handing over an area of the Kosel to the Reform, who don’t have Torah, don’t have religion and they also want the mikvaos and giyur”.

Rav Amar’s comments were met with a measure of harsh criticism and stated a protest event must be held at the Kosel for “Kovod Hatorah, Am Yisrael and the Kosel which are being desecrated” he concluded.
