MK Moshe Gafne has sent a letter to Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu calling on him to read the writing on the wall, the world opinion against Israel, and begin to advance the diplomatic process with the PA (Palestinian Authority). Needless to say the letter angered right-wingers, including coalition partner Bayit Yehudi.

Speaking to Mordechai Lavi of Kol Chai Radio on Thursday morning 2 Adar I, Gafne sounded agitated as he was accused of changing his position, questioned why he is suddenly interested in the so-called diplomatic process. From Gafne’s perspective, “nothing has changed, nothing whatsoever”.

As his voice became louder and exhibiting his agitated state, he insisted he has always followed the derech of Maran HaRav Shach ZATZAL, and the single difference today is that he was not passive but sent a letter to the Prime Minister. “I don’t want wars but I want to see a diplomatic process” he added, explaining in his letter he calls on PM Netanyahu not to listen to the voices of the extremists in his coalition.

“We must thank HKBH for the United States, even Europe…” but we must realize the situation we are in, how world opinion has turned against Israel. He stressed Israel cannot afford to alienate the international community and therefore, the diplomatic process must be renewed in line with demands from the world community.
