Magen David Adom calls on Israelis to be careful during the wintry days and whenever possible, to look in on elderly and infirmed neighbors who often are alone without anyone to check in on them.
There were two reports of elderly people transported to the hospital on Monday morning 29 Shevat. In one case, MDA paramedics treated a 79-year-old male in a pool of cold muddy water. He was suffering from hypothermia and he was transported to Rambam Medical Center in Haifa.
In southern Israel, a 70-year-old woman was found in muddy water during the morning hours near the exit to Kiryat Gat. Paramedics treated her for hypothermia as well and she was transported to Barzilai Hospital in Ashkelon. Hospital spokesperson Ayelet Kedar reports the woman was conscious and alert upon arrival and she sustained a light head injury and was being treated for low body temperature.
