A Negev police district spokesman announced on Monday, 29 Shevat that a shipment of weapons and ammunition heading through the Tarkumiya Checkpoint heading for Israel proper was detected and intercepted. The illegal weapons were being smuggled in a truck.

Among the weapons discovered were a Kalashnikov assault rifle, Karl Gustav rifle, clips for the weapons and other related supplies. The driver, 37, a Jewish man from Adura, was taken into custody. The discovery was made by Onyx, the bomb/weapons sniffing dog that works with a special Defense Ministry unit.

Onyx brought his hander to a tire of the truck, which was removed from the rim and found to be holding weaponry.
