Former IDF Chief Rabbi and Rav and Rosh Yeshiva of Yishuv & Yeshivat Itamar Avichai Ronsky is recovering following surgery to remove a cancerous growth from his colon. The rav agreed to donate a kidney to save the life of another and it was during pre-donation screening/testing that the growth was found. Hence, his willingness to save another resulted in saving his own life.

It is pointed out that the rabbi felt good during recent months, not having any sign of the growth in his body.

Doctors on erev Shabbos reported the surgery went well B”H. The rabbi is scheduled to begin additional treatments after recovering from surgery.
