Israel’s Legal System Stands Up for MK Zoabi Again

zoabiA magistrate court justice on Sunday, 28 Shevat, sentenced Arab Member of Knesset Hanin Zoabi to six months’ probation for her conviction on charges of insulting a public servant and a NIS 3,000 fine. If she repeats here offense during the probation period, she will automatically be jailed.

Zoabi was convicted by the Nazareth District Court of insulting a public servant as part of an agreement, which included the prosecution’s willingness not to charge her with incitement to violence. The MK was also required to apologize to two policemen whom she insulted. On Sunday she was sentenced for that conviction. The incident dates back to a violent protest in which Zoabi took part, during which she verbally insulted police.

Yisrael Beitenu party leader MK Avigdor Lieberman released a statement to the media following the announced sentencing of Zoabi. He called the court’s sentencing “Another stone on the grave of Israeli democracy which fails to understand how to defend itself against those seeking to destroy it”.

The party’s statement added that the ruling is in line with the sad rulings of the past of the Israel Supreme Court, which has twice overruled the Central Elections Committee which barred her candidacy in Knesset elections.

  1. Duh!
    Who expected otherwise?
The Israeli judicial system is about as corrupt as North Korea with Kim Jung Un as its chief justice!

  2. I hope Zoabi and Tibi become ministers one day in the “Jewish state” so people can see the fallacy of this Hellenist entity. What still disturbs me the most as the holy Satmar Rebbe said is having “charedim” sitting as ministers lehavdil in this tuma.

  3. This is an extremely alarming. Zoabi was convicted of a felony and sentenced to three years probation for calling two Arab Israeli policemen “traitors” and suggesting that they should be spit upon (a common expression of derision in the middle east, even — yes– among Israelis). She also stated that she “understands” why Palestinian Israelis resort to violence which apparently constitutes “incitement.”

I rarely agree with MK Lieberman about nearly anything, but on this one he is right. So much for Israel being a democracy, a principal cornerstone of which is supposed to be freedom of speech.

Remember: freedom of speech means the freedom to say unpopular things, things which the powers-that-be DON”T like. As was once famously said, “I may not agree with what you said but I will defend to the death your right to say it.” For Zionism, this mantra becomes “I disagree with what you say and will crush you if you dare say it.”

What I find truly alarming is that this is how fascist and communist states operate: crushing freedom by criminalizing speech it doesn’t approve of. If this stands — and I suspect it will — it makes one wonder how long it takes for the Zionist regime to push the envelope and apply the same standards to and begin prosecuting JEWS that don’t toe the party line.
