Interior Minister Aryeh Deri signed an order not to renew the residence permit for Riyad Zaid, father of the terrorist who perpetrated the terror attack in Gan Shmuel in October 2014, running over two soldiers and stabbing civilians including a 15-year-old girl.
The terrorist, 20-year-old Ala Zaid, a resident of Um el-Fahm, showed no remorse for his actions when brought to court.
The father is a resident of the PA (Palestinian Authority) who married an Israeli and was permitted to move into Green Line Israel under Israel’s family unity policy.
Acting in line with the recommendations of the security establishment and in light of the fact that Riyad violated the terms of the family unity arrangement, his permit to remain in Green Line Israel is not going to be extended. Riyad was prohibited from contacting family members in the PA, who appear on terror watch lists, but he did just that.
As a result of Deri signing the document all of Ziyad’s privileges cease abruptly and he is no longer permitted to remain inside Israel.
