Paramedics are treating an IDF soldier who was B”H only lightly injured when a vehicle ran a checkpoint on Highway 443 between Beit Choron and Modi’in. The checkpoint is positioned at the entrance to the Arab village of Ura Atchata. The vehicle that struck the soldier fled.
Officials are uncertain if this was another intentional vehicular ramming terror attack or possibly an incident that is not terror related. While the motive is still unconfirmed the operating premise is that it was a Palestinian terror attack.
An IDF Spokesman statement indicates the driver fled to Beit Ur al-Tahta, the same village the terrorists who perpetrated the Beit Choron fatal stabbing attack are from.
UPDATE: For reasons officials are not explaining, it appears this was likely a car thief and not a vehicular ramming terror attack.
Additionally, shortly after the incident It was being reported that the driver who struck the soldier and fled is in custody and the incident appears to be non-terror related.
