While many believed the wet snow would begin accumulating on Sunday night, this did not occur. There was snow in the Golan Heights and Tzfat during the night but not enough to compel school closures, about 5 centimeters in the Galil (2 inches) and about 50cm fell in the northern Golan Heights since the snow began earlier this week.
The forecast for Monday, Tu B’Shevat calls for precipitation to continue throughout the day as temperatures drop. There are flood warnings for southern areas. At this time, forecasters feel snow may fall in the capital during the afternoon and evening hours, but it is not expected to stick. Snow will be seen in areas over 700 meters altitude.
Israel Police offers motorists a real-time service regarding the status of roads by calling 110.
One can see in the photos that Nachal Arugot is flooded as Route 90 is closed in that area near the Dead Sea hotels. That road closure is in both directions.
Tuesday is expected to be stormy as well and the storm will begin tapering off on Wednesday with thundershowers and strong winds turning to local rainfall. The remainder of the week is expected to be warmer with sunshine.
