Following is some important information:
· The Department of Sanitation asked CB12 to pass along a request to the community to please not use their vehicles if it’s not absolutely necessary.
· 19th Avenue between 55th Street and 58th Street – the site of the BK12 garage – will be closed in both directions to facilitate snow removal operations.
· For those who have Saturday garbage pickup, please do not put it out for collection until further notice.
For the first time, BK12 sanitation depot has their own salt deposit with 3000 tons of salt ready to go. Additionally, we are very grateful to Councilman Greenfield for supplying our district with two haulsters that can reach even the small blocks and the dead end streets. They serve as both a plow and as salt spreader and have worked perfectly in previous storms and continue to be put to good use.
Community Board 12 continues to monitor the increasing potential for a significant winter storm this weekend. We have been, and continue to be, in constant contact with all the essential agencies that will be battling the storm, mainly, the Office of Emergency Management, the Department of Sanitation, the Police and Fire Departments, as well as our emergency volunteer organizations Hatzoloh, Shomrim and Chaveirim.
The Office of Emergency Management has moved up their timeline and is now predicting one to two inches already at daybreak on Saturday.
OEM has also increased their prediction for the accumulation totals to 8 to 12 inches which may be raised by 2 or more inches and possibly, in some areas, up to 18 to 20 inches.
Our main concern is the safety of the residents in our district so we want you to rest assured that during this winter storm, our Office will be on top of it. Our email and phone messages will be monitored throughout the weekend.
Currently, we are not anticipating an MTA\NYC Transit shutdown, however, that is subject to change.
Alternate side parking will suspended on Saturday and possibly on Monday.
Schools are expected to be open on Monday, however, that is also subject to change.
Please continue to monitor us on twitter @BrooklynCB12 and on the web at www.brooklyncb12.org for continuous updated information and, as always, you can reach us by calling our office or sending us an email at [email protected].
