Blizzard and winter storm warnings have been issued across the Tri-State area as a major winter storm threatens to dump up to a foot of snow on parts of the region this weekend.

Friday morning, the National Weather Service issued a Blizzard Warning for these counties through Sunday afternoon:

* NEW JERSEY: Eastern Essex; Eastern Union; Hudson; Western Essex; Western Union; Mercer; Middlesex; Somerset; Western Monmouth; Eastern Monmouth; Ocean; Southeastern Burlington; Coastal Ocean

A Winter Storm Watch has been issued for:
* NEW YORK: Northern Westchester; Orange; Putnam; Rockland
* CONNECTICUT: Northern Fairfield; Northern Middlesex; Northern New Haven; Northern New London; Southern Fairfield; Southern Middlesex; Southern New Haven; Southern New London

A Winter Storm Warning has also been issued for:
* NEW YORK: Southern Westchester
* NEW JERSEY: Hunterdon; Morris; Warren; Eastern Bergen; Eastern Passaic; Western Bergen; Western Passaic
