It has been some time since Shas party leader Aryeh Deri has been in contact with Jerusalem Chief Sephardi Rabbi Shlomo Moshe Amar Shlita but the two were dancing together at a chasenah on Tuesday night, possibly signaling a willingness to mend fences some explain.
Rav Amar was also dancing with Deri at a simcha on Tuesday night of a Shas affiliated person, the two shook hands, and continued dancing.
Interestingly, just a week ago, Rav Amar’s absence at the yahrzeit of the Baba Sali ZT”L was noted and when asked, he told the media he distanced himself due to pressure exerted by certain Shas officials.
Relations between Rav Amar and Shas broke down when the rav backed a different candidate in the elections for Chief Rabbinate of Israel instead of backing the candidate selected by HaGaon HaRav Ovadia Yosef ZT”L , Rabbi Yitzchak Yosef Shlita, who emerged the victor in that election.
