The Association for Jewish Outreach Professionals (AJOP) has officially announced its second annual worldwide online giving day: GivingforOutreach, launching on February 16 to support participating outreach organizations from communities across the globe.

In its first year, 19 organizations participated, raising $1.36M in 24 hours. This was the first $1M Jewish crowdfunding run on this crowdfunding platform. This year, currently 22 kiruv organizations running the gamut from international organizations, including Aish Jerusalem to community-based organizations, including Etz Chaim of Baltimore have confirmed their participation in this high-stakes, all-or-nothing crowdfunding campaign. Their total goal is already $3M.

“The goal of setting a joint giving day for Kiruv is to help them raise more money by working together. 42% of donors surveyed in the 2015 campaign said that they donated more due to the greater joint total. Most of all, our goal is to join together to broadcast one message: the vital life-changing and world-changing good that kiruv has contributed to the growth, inspiration, and leadership of passionate Judaism worldwide,” explains Rabbi Yitzchok Lowenbraun, National Director of AJOP.

“Imagine how different Klal Yisrael would be without the influential teachers and leaders we have as a result of their efforts,” comments Giving Day Manager, Mrs. Tobey Finkelstein. “like Rav Zev Leff, Rabbi Akiva Tatz, Rabbi Leib Kelemen, and Rabbi Dr. Dovid Gottlieb, and so many more. Many of our accomplished lay leaders like Richard Horowitz (LA), Chaim Fink (Minneapolis), and Steve Rosedale (Cincinnati) entered the religious community through kiruv. If we look for a moment, most of us have kiruv to thank for at least one key personality in our learning, upbringing or extended family. GivingforOutreach is a day to stop, think, and acknowledge this tremendous contribution – and thank them by giving back for those who’ve contributed so much.”

GivingforOutreach is open to more kiruv organizations around the world. Every organization will be using the Charidy online crowdfunding platform that has non-profits set a 24-hour, all or nothing goal, where every donation is quadrupled by matching donors.
