Jerusalem Councilman (Yahadut Hatorah) Yitzchak Pindrus has given Mayor Nir Barkat an ultimatum, two weeks to stop the airing of movies in the Kiryat Yovel minhelet on Friday nights.

Deutsch announced the ultimatum during an interview with Noam Zeigman on Kol Berama Radio. The ultimatum comes at a time when more and more businesses are opening on Shabbos R”L in the capital despite City Hall insisting the religious status quo is being maintained.
This past Shabbos, Parshas Bo, hundreds of mispallalim held a protest at the minhelet against the chilul Shabbos.
Deutsch explained that he cannot permit this to continue and if the mayor cannot stop the chilul Shabbos, he will do his utmost to pull Yahadut Hatorah out of the city coalition government.
Some members of the frum parties in the city council are expected to meet on Sunday evening to discuss a plan of action, which includes cutting funding to the Kiryat Yovel minhelet.

Okay, so please don’t call me a Shaigetz, Goy, Bum, etc.
But I have a dilemma here.
If I’m not mistaken, Kiryat Yovel used to be a primarily secular neighborhood. The seculars said they didn’t want chareidim in there neighborhood, because the chareidim will want to impose all kinds of restrictions on the secular. The chareidim screamed “Discrimination! The seculars just hate us and that’s why they don’t want us. Just plain and simple hatred.
So eventually, chareidim move in, get some votes and guess what?
Now they are trying to dominate with their hashkofos.
Which of course are correct hashkofos but certainly no way to endear yourself or your way of life on your local chiloni!
Gee I’m sure when you shove it down their throat, do you actually think the chiloni will have a eureka moment and suddenly say “Hey I too want to be religious, this is great stuff”…….Oy gevalt!
