Snow is on the way to the Tri-State area for Tuesday afternoon, making for potentially slick roads for the evening commute.
Meteorologist Bill Evans says the snow will arrive at 2 to 3 o’clock in the form of snow showers and bursts. Specifically, the western part of the region in New Jersey will see snow around 2 p.m., with it moving into the New York City area at about 3 p.m.
A trace to a coating is expected in New York City, with 1-2 inches possible in areas north and west.
Temperatures in the 20s tonight could cause black ice on the roads and treacherous driving conditions.
It could mix in with ice and rain on Long Island, coastal Connecticut and parts of the Jersey Shore.
The snow will be followed by bitter cold on Wednesday with a high of 31 and wind chill factors between 10 to 15 degrees.
