30 tons of scrap ovens including refrigerators, furniture and pieces of metal were removed using seven cranes, two crushing trucks and 20 workers in a seven-hour period. The items were removed from the courtyard between 8 and 10 Henkin Street in Pardes Katz, in Bnei Brak. The operation was supervised by officials from the city’s sanitation and engineering units and police.
A number of people began using the land area between the buildings for a scrap yard, preferring to ignore the law and the expressed will of area tenants. Following numerous warnings from the city, the order was given to move in and remove all the scrap from the area, which amounted to an impressive 38 tons.
