Police in the Village of Hastings-on-Hudson are continuing their investigation into anti-Semitic graffiti on a resident’s home.
“As the child of a parent who survived the Nazi occupation of Sicily during WWII, I take this type of incident very seriously,” said Police Chief Anthony Visalli. “I take the type of incident very seriously.”
The chief said they believe it was likely the work of youth and not random.
“As is often the case, many people who commit such crimes are not fully aware of the true meaning of the message they are sending.”
There were no witnesses or video, and so, far, no suspects in the case.
“Hastings is a tolerant community with no recent history of this sort of behavior,” Visalli said.
Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call the police department at 914-478-2344 or use the anonymous tip reporting source, TIP411, on the village’s web page, www.hastingsgov.org .
