Mr. Morris Bremer is 84-years-old and he has become a symbol of the ongoing battle in Tel Aviv to close grocery stores and businesses on Shabbos. For Mr. Bremer, it is about Shabbos and therefore he joined his son Kobi’s battle as Kobi is the owner of a makolet (grocery store).
On Tuesday, 17 Teves, a non-religious male entered the store and asked “is this a shomer shabbos makolet?” he then attacked Mr. Bremer senior, striking him with a closed fist. A religious male who saw what was taking place ran in and pulled of the attacker.
Kobi explains his father was psychologically traumatized by the assault, not mention his bruises from being attacked. However, B”H he still goes outside, refusing to permit the thug to ruin his life, Kobi explained to Kikar Shabbos News.
Kobi expressed his disgust and questions why one would assault another for simply battling to close stores on Shabbos. He is quoted adding “especially these guys who are out in the street talking about peace all day”.
