Snowfall is expected beginning today, Thursday, 19 Teves, through the weekend on Mount Hermon in the northern Golan Heights. Snowfall will begin falling in other northern areas beginning on Friday, areas over 800 meters altitude. This includes the Galil Mountainous areas. One may also see snow in high altitude areas in Yehuda and Shomron such as Kiryat Arba and Ofra however there are no predictions of significant accumulations because it is too warm.
As we move a bit southward Jerusalemites are expecting a wintry weekend too. Temperatures on Thursday morning are in the low 40sF, and they will continue dropping on Friday and reach about freezing on Friday evening/night. Snowfall is possible in areas over 900 meters. There is talk of a “possible dusting” in Jerusalem but no accumulations are expected.
In southern Israel, there will not be any snow but there are flood warning as well as for areas of central Israel prone to flooding. Rainfall on Thursday afternoon and Friday is expected to be significant around the country.
