The Chief Rabbinate of Israel on Monday, 16 Teves, was informed it must relocate within 24 hours as per a court order. The Chief Rabbinate is located in Beit Yahav on Yirmiyohu Street in Jerusalem and is compelled to move nearby, Ohaliav Street.
The Chief Rabbis and the Chief Rabbinate Supreme Beis Din will relocate to the new location as well.
According to a Kikar Shabbos News report, a dispute has been ongoing between the building contractor and the government official in charge of settling the agency in an office. This dispute has led to a delay in handing over the new offices to the Chief Rabbinate.
The report adds the Chief Rabbis would prefer to remain where they are. They explain the planning in the new location does not make sense but they will manage as they are compelled to do.
And finally it is added the furniture from the Beit Yahav offices will be donated to a NGO, allocated for tzedaka.
