Addressing a Major EMS conference hosted by Magen David Adom, Health Minister Yaakov Litzman commented “I envy you for you save lives daily”. The conference surrounded resuscitation and prehospital care, placing an emphasis on showing new technological advances being deployed by MDA in the field to improve patient care.
The MDA conference was held in the Tel Aviv Hilton on 16 Teves, during which MDA Chief Eli Bin addressed participants along with Minister Litzman. Litzman also promised to include additional ‘life-saving’ pharmaceuticals in the government healthcare basket, free of charge for lower income individuals.
Litzman also commented on the recently-announced modified regulation from the Israel Medical Association which calls for treating the most serious victim of an attack first, regardless if that person is the terrorist. “This is a matter pertaining to saving lives that must be addressed by the professionals and it is not for me to intervene”.
Prof. Pinchas Halprin, who heads MDA’s Medical Advisory Board, spoke of the MDA’s large contribution to Israel over the years and the advances made in prehospital medical care in Israel. “While once upon a time we injected adrenaline directly into a heart, today we have made great strides and medical advances, using technology to save lives”.
On display was some of the equipment used by paramedics in the field, including an automated CPR machine that permits efficient chest compressions in transit.

IT IS INCUMBENT UPON ANYONE AND EVERYONE TO INTERVENE TO STOP THIS UNACCEPTABLE,INTOLERABLE,AND INCOMPREHENSIBLE POLICY. A MDA MEDIC WHO FOLLOWS THIS RULE IS A ROTZEACHֱ
I doubt that many will follow that policy.
Also, the rules fr a First Responder, is to protect yourself first. There have been cases of them going to assist an Arab and the Arab then stabbing the very person going to help him. That is reason enough to ignore the rule.
