He was a Jewish soldier who fought for his country, the United States of America.
He was also one of the six US soldiers who was killed in a suicide bomber’s attack on Monday.
Staff Sergeant Peter Taub, a Wyncote, PA native, was killed in an attack in Afghanistan near Bagram Airfield.
Staff Sgt. Taub was a remarkably dedicated soldier and public servant.
Staff Sgt. Taub was 30 years old and leaves a wife and 3 year old daughter. His wife is also expecting his second child.
He had given the ultimate sacrifice in the service of his country.
An official of the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia confirmed that Taub was Jewish.
Among those also killed was a New York City police detective, Joseph Lemm.
Taub’s body along the five others who are to be flown to Dover Airforce Base Wednesday where they will be honored for their service.
The Jewish people keep Staff Sergeant Taub’s family and friends in our hearts and minds as they sit shiva and begin the process of healing.

There are many ways one’s life serves as a Kiddush Hashem.
Showing Appreciation for the country that is the second Golden Age of the Galut, is also a very worthy Kiddush Hashem.
It is a mitsvah to publisize a Kiddush Hashem such as this.
For his family and friends, Be-ezrat Hashem, Bitrahamu min haShamayim.
Anyone have any shiva information? As I have off from work next week I’d love to be a representative of his Jewish brothers and sisters and pay a shiva call.
May his circle heal. So young!!! The US should be out of Afghanistan.
