Baruch Hashem, the nationwide public sector strike that would have brought much of Israel to a halt was averted as agreement was reached in late night negotiations. The strike was to have begun this morning, Wednesday, 11 Teves 5776 at 06:00.

The Histadrut labor federation backed down from its demand of an across the board 11% increase for all public sector employees, settling for a 7.5% increase spread over three years.
