Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat has released a video announced he joined the Likud party and he encourages others in the nationalist camp to follow his example.
He explains “Fifteen years ago I left my business to serve Jerusalem, earning a salary of NIS 1 annually. I did so with a sense of mission and responsibility for the future of the State of Israel and I promote Likud this morning.
“In the last elections I backed and supported the Prime Minister and Likud. As someone who believes in maintaining the Land of Israel and a united Jerusalem, strengthening security and reducing social disparities, I cannot remain a bystander. A large Likud registration will infuse new blood and a new spirit and strengthen the leadership which comes to serve the public without extraneous considerations. A strong membership drive would also enhance Jerusalem and allow it to have its rightful place in the distribution of national resources.
“Jerusalem is my life’s mission. We have much work to do and I will continue serving Jerusalem as the mayor, at least until the end of my current term. In the future I will decide if I will decide if I will run again or serve the public on the national level. You have the privilege to be a partner and mold the future of the nation in the coming years. Join the Likud now!”
