The state on Tuesday morning 10 Teves has filed with the National Labor Court in a last-ditch effort to prevent a national public sector strike in Israel on Wednesday, 11 Teves.
The strike was called by the Histadrut national labor federation as a result of a breakdown in salary talks. The labor union is seeking an 11% increase in the public sector. If last-minutes efforts to prevent the strike fail, the strike will get underway at 06:00 on Wednesday.
The strike will include;
· All government offices
· Tel Aviv Stock Exchange employees
· Jerusalem Municipality employees
· Transportation service in Tel Aviv and Haifa
· Teachers unions
· Knesset employees
· Civil Service employees
· Civilians employed in the IDF
· Hospital employees
· Magen David Adom
· Clalit and Leumit HMOs
· Israel Broadcasting Authority
· National Road Safety Authority
· Council of Higher Education
· University employees
· Taf Teken – Israel’s Standards Institute
· Airport employees (including takeoffs, landings and domestic flights)
Essential service agencies participating in the strike will operate on a limited Shabbos schedule.
