Yisrael Beitenu party leader MK Avigdor Lieberman fears coalition policy is resulting in “religious coercion” in Israel. He feels Likud is becoming “chareidi and extremist, more so than Yahadut Hatorah” pertaining to the recent decision to compel stores to shut on Shabbos.
He feels the cabinet’s willingness to back such a law, to compel stores to close on Shabbos, is a betrayal of hundreds of thousands of families. In his words, among these families are those “Who take advantage of the day off in these places and there are those who make a living from this. This is another step by the government, which is controlled by the chareidim, for the State of Israel to become a theocracy while betraying the immigrant and secular communities”.
Lieberman’s remarks follow the Ministerial Law Committee decision to accept the law, taking the authority to shut business on Shabbos from local government such as Tel Aviv, which is not vigilant in enforcing Shabbos closure.

I’m so happy we protested in the ’70s to get the USSR to allow jews to leave and live a Jews. Now we have THIS!!!! Jews resisted the Soviet Union so they could leave Russia and go to Eretz Yisroel and be mechallel Shabbos.

yes.
That is/was the basis that the Moetzes of America then ,was unenthusiastic about “Let my people go”
They would rather have preferred “Let my people live as Jews
even though they were regularly mocked for it by Kahane, YU and the
Coalition Government of Israel.
Lieberman can still have his pork for now.
Idiot, this was the status queo from dovid’l green (Ben gurion) shut up and go back to Russia where the communists will allow u to live freely without religious persecution!!!!!
