Speaking to Kol Chai Radio on Sunday morning 8 Teves, addressing a number of matters, Health Minister Yaakov Litzman was asked “What happened to your good friend, President Reuven Rivlin? He changed dramatically of late as was seen by his recent meetings with Reform and Conservative Jews”.
Litzman explained that while he does applaud the president’s actions, he personally feels that the even on Chanukah took place in the White House, along with President Barak Obama and therefore, he understands Rivlin’s decision to participate as well. Litzman added he is aware that Mr. Rivlin in the past has made his position crystal clear regarding Conservative and Reform Judaism and he remains confident when the president is required to stand up and make this clear, he will do so. Therefore, realizing the political sensitivities involved in a ceremony that is hosted by the American president, President Rivlin was compelled to accept the invitation and attend.
