A man involved in organising a neo-Nazi rally in Golders Green in July has been has been jailed for more than three years.
Joshua Bonehill-Paine, 23, seen apparently smirking in his police mug shot, posted the messages on the web ahead of a far-right protest.
Bonehill-Paine was sentenced at Southwark Crown Court today to three years and four months in prison after being convicted at the same court yesterday.
The demonstration, due to take place in Golders Green, home to one of London’s largest Jewish communities, was billed as “anti-Jewification” event.
In one of the images Bonehill-Paine posted, weedkiller was seen being sprayed on a concentration camp.
But police arrested him at his home in Yeovil, Somerset, ahead of the planned protest in July.
Detective Chief Inspector Andy Barnes, who led the investigation for the Met’s Public Order Investigation Branch, said: “Bonehill-Paine posted vile, anti-Semitic material online.
“This kind of material is illegal and its publication is damaging to communities.
“There are challenges in attributing such material posted online to the originator but our digital forensic examiners worked tirelessly, carrying out extensive analysis of the material, phone data and online activity to prove that Bonehill-Paine posted the material from his laptop.”
DCI Barnes added: “The Met fully understands the hurt that is felt in communities affected by this type of crime. It is only by continually working with communities that we can ensure they are safe and free from fear.”
