Nine Sephardi bochrim in Yeshivas Kol Yaakov headed by HaGaon Rav Yehuda Adas Shlita were ousted. According to the bochrim, they were thrown out because they disseminated a psak halacha from HaGaon HaRav Ovadia Yosef ZT”L pertaining to talmidei yeshivos lighting in dormitories on Chanukah. Yeshiva officials report the talmidim were thrown out for other reasons.
Relatives of the nine explain the boys distributed the psak halacha from R’ Ovadia that was published by Kikar Shabbos News, which instructs Sephardi talmidim not to light candles in yeshiva. The psak concludes if one’s rabbonim insist he light he should do so without a bracha.
The psak from R’ Ovadia differs from the psak announced by Rav Adas, who instructs each and every talmid to light in the dormitory, with a bracha.
Despite the statements from family members, yeshiva officials insist the boys were thrown out for matters unrelated to the psak from R’ Ovadia that occurred in recent weeks.

Just like make-believe & light mouthing the brochos & then go home & light with themishpacha. Distribution OF A psak that differs with the R”Y isn’t a smart move.
If they had the chutzpah to pasken differently that their rosh, they deserve it.
If it was for another reason, they probably deserve it too
