Police on Sunday 1 Teves detained an avreich who tried to gain entry to the Bnei Brak home of HaGaon HaRav Aryeh Yehuda Leib Shteinman Shlita on erev Shabbos Chanukah. The avreich at this stage is being questioned regarding his actions. He has not been charged with a crime as of yet. Police are asking persons who witnessed his actions to step forward and file a complaint.

The incident in question occurred close to Shabbos candle lighting, when the avreich arrived at the gadol hador’s home and tried to enter by force as the rav lit Chanukah candles.

According to a Kikar Shabbos report quoting those present when the man arrived, who is described as a “litvish avreich”, refused him entry as they are aware of his position regarding the split in Degel Hatorah and they feared for Maran’s well-being. At that point the man reportedly went to a window of the apartment and began speaking inappropriately against gedolei yisrael, making reference to the newly-passed draft law and their role in the legislation.
