If there is one concern in today’s world which is constantly on the mind of the Gadol Hador, it is the welfare of the yungerleit in Eretz Yisroel. Therefore when the venerable sage Maran HaRav Steinman shlit”a expressed his interest in attending a Chanukah mesiba for the nation’s premier network of Kolelim, nobody at Yissacher B’Ohalecha was surprised. In fact they had assumed that the Rosh Yeshiva would make the effort to participate and that is why they had already booked the largest hall in Bnei Brak for their annual Chanukah event.
Problem was that the hall couldn’t accommodate even half of Yissacher B’Ohalecha’s vast student body divided among 34 Kollelim which are spread out across the land covering the area from Carmiel out north in the Upper Galil and stretches down south until Netivot in the Negev.
And so it was decided to limit attendance to those branches which are within an hour’s travel time to the hall. And when the Rosh Yeshiva actually did arrive the simcha was so genuine and overwhelming to the point of being almost tangible. After opening remarks were delivered by prominent Rabbonim, Rav Elchanan Weisbord, Chief Executive Officer of Kollel Yissacher B’Ohalecha, stepped up to the microphone and said a short prayer that the Kollel may continue to enjoy its special privilege to be under the direct leadership of the Manhig HaDor, Maran Rav Aharon Leib shlit”a, who is the Nasi of the Kollelim.
Rav Weisbord then proceeded to ask the Rosh Yeshiva for a bracha for the yungerleit. The Rosh Yeshiva blessed the yungerleit and after a brief stay was escorted out of the hall to a lively tune amidst spirited singing and dancing. The overflow crowd of avreichim all joined together in the heartfelt festivities.
Kollel Yissacher B’Ohalecha, with 22 branches across the entire Eretz Yisroel, provides a commute free learning solution for over 1,700 yungerleit who master masechtas and miktzoas in most areas of Shas.
With a strong emphasis on diligent studies and punctual attendance, Rav Weisbord encourages the yungerleit to bring out their potential while providing them with a structure where they can continue to grow together with fellow avreichim as a chaburah with a clear focus on shteiging. The Rosh Yeshiva is involved in the curricular planning as well as the financial welfare of Yissacher B’Ohalecha’s swelling roster of accomplished Torah scholars.
Rav Weisbord divides his time between his travels throughout Eretz Yisroel to oversee the orderly function of the Kollelim and his overseas fundraising missions which bring vital support to the network’s continued effort toward growth and successful development.
