The defense is geared up for closing arguments at the federal corruption trial of former New York Senate leader Dean Skelos (and his son.
Deliberations could begin as early as Wednesday afternoon at the Manhattan trial.
On Tuesday, prosecutors said Skelos used his office to “strong arm” three businesses into giving his son $300,000 in fees and benefits. The government says an extortion scheme unraveled after investigators secretly recorded their phone calls.
The defendants’ lawyers say they will be vindicated.
Skelos has retained his Senate seat but relinquished his leadership position.
