Capitol Hill Buzz: Harry Reid Has Strong Words for GOP

reidSenate Democratic Leader Harry Reid is heading into retirement next year. Before he goes he has some strong words for Republicans.

In a floor speech Wednesday, the Nevada lawmaker accused Republicans of “running on a platform of hate.” He said that the party and its candidates “demagogue women” and direct “insults and slander” at Muslim-Americans, immigrants, and supporters of the Black Lives Matter movement.

Reid directed his criticism at the party in general and at the GOP’s presidential candidates, citing comments by Donald Trump, Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio, Ben Carson and others to accuse them of disparaging immigrants and minorities.

“The simple fact is that Republicans are running on a platform of hate,” Reid charged. “Every Republican who fails to speak out against the hateful, dangerous rhetoric being spewed by their party is complicit. For the moral character of our nation we must demand that Republicans return to the values on which our country was founded.”

  1. If we have any moral character, we need to be sure that this political good for nothing fades off into retirement – completely. If he will have any similarity to Carter y”sh, he will exploit his once powerful position to imbue the public with his version of hate. It is often that perusing the news in which he opened his mouth, I silently wondered how he completed medical school. He has prioritized his partisan politics above everything, the Constitution, what’s good for America, morality, family values, etc. His retirement has not come soon enough. From his manipulating votes to not occur until there was a loophole through which he could crush Republicans, and through which he could strong arm other politicians, to his actual rhetoric – he has been a sad stain on American politics. He is a disgrace, and his retirement should be one of total obscurity.

Does he refer to no voting rights for blacks and women? Or maybe he refers to slavery.
