Northern district police announced on Thursday, 7 Kislev, that indictments are being handed down against three people suspected of running a stolen Sefer Torah ring. Two of the suspects are from Tiveria and the third, a Sefer Torah dealer, is from Yerushalayim. The trial against them will take place in the Nazareth Magistrate Court.
Northern district detectives made arrests on 10. Police also learned the suspects broke into a shul in Tiveria and stole a Sefer Torah, removing the klaf from the case to facilitate transport. They sold that torah to the merchant in Yerushalayim for NIS 12,000.
A torah stolen from a Chabad Shul in the Krayot was sold to the Jerusalem dealer for NIS 16,000.
The multicount indictments contain numerous charges including breaking and entering, aggravated theft, and conspiracy to commit a crime.
