In light of the many recent Islamic terror attacks in Israel carried out by minors, Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked is working to amend the law to permit imprisoning terrorists even under the age of 12. The amended law will permit sentencing a minor to prison but the sentence will only be served after the child reaches the age of 14.
The current law not only prohibits imprisoning one under the age of 14, it prohibits sentencing a child under 14 to a jail term. Shaked wants to change this with the provision the actual sentence will not be served until the child reaches his/her 14th birthday.
