Two smartphone apps have been developed to assist PA (Palestinian Authority) residents to avoid Israeli security checkpoints, AP reports.

The apps are somewhat comparable to Waze in so much as they rely on users to continuously update them, thereby providing real time accurate information, especially pertaining to spontaneous checkpoints that may be set up as opposed to checkpoints in known locales.

The moment a driver sees a checkpoint he is asked to update the app, sending a message to other users. The app also advises drivers how they may bypass the checkpoint and still reach their destination.
