MK (Bayit Yehudi) Nissim Slomiansky wishes to extend the term of national and local government to five years from the current four. He feels this will add a measure of stability to government, both national and local.
Interestingly, most Knessets do not succeed in completing their four-year term, but Slomiansky explains that even if a coalition falls, there is no reason a new coalition cannot be formed with the same 120 MKs and new elections may not necessarily be compulsory.
