Two anti-Semitic stickers were placed on a Central Florida Future newsstand outside Tower 4 on UCF’s main campus Sunday.
One sticker had a Star of David and the words “1%” and “Bankers” underneath, and the second sticker had a Nazi swastika depicted on a flag, according to 10 News.
Chabad at University of Central Florida gave the following statement to YWN following the incident:
I was saddened to hear that two anti-Semitic stickers were found outside Tower 4 on UCF’s main campus on Sunday. One of those stickers depicted a Nazi Swastika. This follows a similar incident that occurred at University House across from campus last April, where swastikas were carved into the walls of a Jewish student’s apartment. When these type of incident happen on our very own campus, it is viewed as an attempt to make Jewish students feel threatened or unsafe.
Near where the stickers were found, a note was hung up calling to boycott all Israeli products, claiming it to be a result of the “murder and oppression” that Israel commits against the Palestinians. This type of extreme rhetoric can help create a hateful and charged atmosphere that leads to hateful actions.
I am in close and constant contact with the UCF administration, who assure me they are working tirelessly to find the perpetrators.
I want to be clear that those who committed these acts and those who encourage it will not weaken us. In fact, their hate-filled actions will only work to strengthen the resolve of the Jewish community that exists here at UCF, and to encourage us at Chabad to bolster our efforts to increase the education and pride amongst our students about our wonderful heritage.
