As a result of an initiative by MK Uri Maklev, who chairs the Knesset Technology Committee, e-government stations have been placed in chareidi areas of the country. Maklev is confident the stations will make government services more accessible to citizens.
The new service, which will be launched in about two months, will include digital stations in chareidi areas, where they me be increasingly essential since many homes do not have internet so residents would have to call or visit government offices to make many inquiries that can be made on line. The stations will permit one to determine eligibility for rights and benefits, make payments and obtain approval without having to deal with the bureaucratic red tape.
In the future, the e-government stations will also issue certificates and official documents, providing immediate service in many areas hours after government offices close.
