A Ministry of Defense spokesman on Monday, 4 Kislev announced that in recent days, smuggling efforts to bring hundreds of liters of chemicals used in rocket manufacture into Gaza were intercepted. The report states the chemicals were headed to Hamas and Islamic Jihad terrorists in Gaza.
Inspectors of Israel’s Ports Authority and the David Unit of the Civil Administration found the chemicals loaded on a truck at the Tarkumiya Checkpoint. The truck carrying the chemicals originated in the PA (Palestinian Authority) a rea of Hebron and was heading to Gaza. The chemicals were placed in commercial canisters used for cooking oil and the shipment manifest reported he was carrying soya oil.
Inspectors were suspicious and they detained the truck. The canisters were identified to be carrying TDI, an organic compound that is on the prohibited list for importation to Gaza.
In total, inspectors confiscated six skids containing bottles of the chemical, a total of 450 liters.
